Waiting on Wednesday: The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell

"Waiting On Wednesday" is a weekly event, hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Publication date: 07/18/2017
Stop the Magician.
Steal the book.
Save the future.

In modern day New York, magic is all but extinct. The remaining few who have an affinity for magic—the Mageus—live in the shadows, hiding who they are. Any Mageus who enters Manhattan becomes trapped by the Brink, a dark energy barrier that confines them to the island. Crossing it means losing their power—and often their lives.

Esta is a talented thief, and she's been raised to steal magical artifacts from the sinister Order that created the Brink. With her innate ability to manipulate time, Esta can pilfer from the past, collecting these artifacts before the Order even realizes she’s there. And all of Esta's training has been for one final job: traveling back to 1902 to steal an ancient book containing the secrets of the Order—and the Brink—before the Magician can destroy it and doom the Mageus to a hopeless future.

But Old New York is a dangerous world ruled by ruthless gangs and secret societies, a world where the very air crackles with magic. Nothing is as it seems, including the Magician himself. And for Esta to save her future, she may have to betray everyone in the past.

This synopsis intrigues me. It's something about magic and traveling back in time that has me all giddy about this book. I just love the cover! I'm excited to get my hands on this one!

So this is my pick. What are you waiting for?

  1. This looks awesome!! I think the Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco looks good too.

  2. Ahhhh, yes, I cannot wait to start this one! It's on Edelweiss and NetGalley, in case you didn't know. :D I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it!

    Have a wonderful week. =)

    Check out my WoW post!

  3. If you think your audience would appreciate a comedy magician more than say a mind reader, search around for comedy magicians in your area, a big tip here is to make sure they have at least one video of them performing, there is nothing worse than an unfunny comedy magician!indianapolis magician

I want to hear from you, I promise I won't bite!
