Incarceron by Catherine Fisher A thrilling, high-concept fantasy for fans of Garth Nix and Nancy Farmer.
Incarceron is a prison so vast that it contains not only cells, but also metal forests, dilapidated cities, and vast wilderness. Finn, a seventeen-year-old prisoner, has no memory of his childhood and is sure that he came from Outside Incarceron. Very few prisoners believe that there is an Outside, however, which makes escape seems impossible.
And then Finn finds a crystal key that allows him to communicate with a girl named Claudia. She claims to live Outside- she is the daughter of the Warden of Incarceron, and doomed to an arranged marriage. Finn is determined to escape the prison, and Claudia believes she can help him. But they don't realize that there is more to Incarceron than meets the eye. Escape will take their greatest courage and cost more than they know.

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny—one she could never have imagined…
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth—that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face…and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.
The Secret Year by Jennifer HubbardTake Romeo and Juliet. Add The Outsiders. Mix thoroughly. Colt and Julia were secretly together for an entire year, and no one—not even Julia's boyfriend— knew. They had nothing in common, with Julia in her country club world on Black Mountain and Colt from down on the flats, but it never mattered. Until Julia dies in a car accident, and Colt learns the price of secrecy. He can't mourn Julia openly, and he's tormented that he might have played a part in her death. When Julia's journal ends up in his hands, Colt relives their year together at the same time that he's desperately trying to forget her. But how do you get over someone who was never yours in the first place?

Julie Kagawa was born in Sacramento, California. But nothing exciting really happened to her there. So, at the age of nine she and her family moved to Hawaii, which she soon discovered was inhabited by large carnivorous insects, colonies of house geckos, and frequent hurricanes. Please share with us about your favorite book and fictional crush to date?
Favorite book? As in, just one? Impossible! J Can I name a (very) few favorites instead? Perfect Chemistry, Poison Study, Lord of the Rings, Bird-by-Bird, Royal Assassin, A Game of Thrones, Song in the Silence, Tithe, The Briar King, The Fox Woman … um, I should stop now.
My fictional crush to date is Poison Study’s Valek, because I have a thing for dark, mysterious assassins (something I should probably tell a shrink about). Valek is cool and dangerous and no one has been able to topple him as of now.
If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be / Why?
I’m torn between Yelena from Poison Study, because she gets Valak, and Buffy (for obvious reasons).
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as
you / Why?
Lucy Liu. Because she is awesome. And Asian. And I love her. :D
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be – please explain?
Ummmm, I’m not really sure. I’m bad at writing bios and wouldn’t even know where to begin with a biography. But I do know this: the word Gecko would definitely be in the title. :P
How would you describe yourself/life in seven words?
Lover of books, ninja, and video games.

Jennifer R. Hubbard lives and writes in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. The Secret Year is her first book. The Secret Year was released January 7, 2010!
es across country around 1916—before there were paved interstate highways. If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be – please explain?
I have a terrible time coming up with titles. So maybe they should call it The Book with No Name. Or Jennifer R. Hubbard: In Search of a Title.
How would you describe yourself/life in seven words?
Even when I write flash fiction, I can’t yet distill life down to seven words.
Thanks Jennifer for stopping by!

The Mark by Jen Nadol Cassandra Renfield has always seen the mark—a glow around certain people reminiscent of candlelight. But the one time she mentioned it, it was dismissed as a trick of the light. Until the day she watches a man awash in the mark die. After searching her memories, Cassie realizes she can see a person’s imminent death. Not how or where, only when: today.
Armed with a vague understanding of the light, Cassie begins to explore her “gift,” seeking those marked for death and probing the line between decision and destiny. Though she’s careful to hide her secret—even from her new philosophy-obsessed boyfriend—with each impending death comes the temptation to test fate. But so many questions remain. How does the mark work? Why is she the only one who sees it? And finally, the
most important of all: If you know today is someone’s last, should you tell them?

Jen Nadol grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania, the hometown of John Updike, Taylor Swift, and the now-defunct Monopoly railroad. She has a BA in literature from American University and has lived in Washington DC, Boston, and New York City. She currently resides in a 150-year-old farmhouse in Westchester County, New York, with her husband and three young sons and is at work on her next two related novels. She has no paranormal abilities and is pretty happy about that. The Mark is in stores today! Please share with us about your favorite book and fictional crush to date?
So many favorite books – The Stand, The Last Ship, White Oleander, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The Secret History…these are just some off the top of my head. There are probably about twenty others.
Most of what I read doesn’t have a strong romance element so a fictional crush is pretty tough. It would definitely be on a Mr. Darcy type – that serious, smart, sort-of-superior kind of guy.
If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be / Why?
Without spending days thinking about it – because this’d really be kind of a big decision - I’m going to go with Frannie Goldsmith from The Stand. There’s something appealing about starting all over again and by the end of the book, she’s got a pretty good set-up.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as
you /Why?
I’ve always liked Winona Ryder and she hasn’t gotten much work since she got caught shoplifting (NB: we look nothing alike)
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be – please explain?
STOP FIGHTING! Spend a day with my three kids and this will need no explanation.
How would you describe yourself/life in seven words?
Busy, happy and very, very, very fortunate.

But Claire has a few secrets that are getting harder to keep. Her biggest secret of all? The onyx and ivory cameo necklace her grandmother gave her for her 15th birthday. Ever since she started wearing it, her dreams have been coming to her in black and white and turning out to be oddly prophetic.
Becca’s been hanging out with her old prep school friends and never seems to have time for Claire anymore. And soon, Claire discovers why—there’s a secret group of society girls with a mysterious identity. And, turns out, a mysterious enemy who’s out to get them. The second she sniffs out trouble, Claire jumps on the case. But is it someone close to Claire who’s in danger again—or could it be Claire herself whose life is at stake?

All Unquiet Things by Anna JarzabCarly: She was sweet. Smart. Self-destructive. She knew the secrets of Brighton Day School’s most privileged students. Secrets that got her killed.
Neily: Dumped by Carly for a notorious bad boy, Neily didn’t answer the phone call she made before she died. If he had, maybe he could have helped her. Now he can’t get the image of her lifeless body out of his mind.
Audrey: She’s the reason Carly got tangled up with Brighton’s fast crowd in the first place, and now she regrets it—especially since she’s convinced the police have put the wrong person in jail. Audrey thinks the murderer is someone at Brighton, and she wants Neily to help her find out who it is.
As reluctant allies Neily and Audrey dig into their shared past with Carly, her involvement with Brighton’s dark goings-on comes to light. But figuring out how Carly and her killer fit into the twisted drama will force Audrey and Neily to face hard truths about themselves and the girl they couldn’t save.
Riveting in her story telling, Jarzab captures the essence of love and loss and how one life shattering event can have profound effect on loved ones…
I’m a big fan of paranormal/fantasy books and All Unquiet Things is one of those books that reintroduced me to a stunning contemporary novel written beautifully. It’s writing like this that makes me want to venture outside of my favorite genre. I don’t think I could say anything else that best describes how amazing this book is.
Told in alternating viewpoints from Neily and Audrey, Jarzab captured the voices of each character perfectly. The emotions behind each character had me empathizing with the turmoil surrounding Carly’s death and how her down spiral continued to have everlasting effects on Neily and Audrey. I was quite shocked at how quickly Carly’s life took a turn for the worst.
The writing is spectacular its complexity of the characters and the overall flow of the book. Jarzab weaved a compelling story around love, friendship, loss, and mystery. With how each clue unfolded to give us glimpses of Carly’s on-goings, I was left stunned. The pages couldn’t turn fast enough for me. I would recommend this book to everyone. I look forward to reading more of Jarzarb’s books.

Please share with us about your favorite book and fictional crush to date?
Hm, favorite book. I have lots of favorites, books I reread every year, but I guess if I have to choose JUST ONE I'd choose The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate by Nancy Mitford (they count as one because they always package them together in one volume!). Nancy Mitford is hilariously funny, and her books have that old English noblesse oblige charm that I love. Her characters are amazingly well-drawn and interesting, and unique, insofar as anything is unique.
As for my fictional crush, I guess maybe I would say Jason from Hey, Nostradamus!, if I'm in the mood to want to save a tortured soul, or Robbie, from Atonement, if I'm in the mood to believe that there are good men in the world.
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you / Why?
Yikes, please don't make my life into a movie, Hollywood! Again with the literal-mindedness. But maybe Amanda Seyfried? I like her a lot. She doesn't look like me, but I think she's very talented.
How would you describe yourself/life in seven words?
Polish girl has writery ambitions, makes good.
